Dear Friend,
First I want to wish you and your loved ones a prosperous New Year . This message I have sent to you today, depending on the way you consider it's contents and your reaction to the message will be of immense benefit to both of us. I have to assure you here and now that you should neither regard this mail as a scam nor a child's play but an opportunity your surename has brought to you and I please let's grab it with two hands.
Please, I humbly request you to read this message attentively to be able to view the reason and consider the purpose why I have sent this mail to you. I have not come to you by chance nor by accident, i have come to you because your last-name has planted you in the centre of relevance in both my life and professional career at this very moment, but before I give you the details/facts, i will like to introduce myself to you.
I am Mr.Michael Fofana , The Vice-President, Private Banking Division (PBD) of The Versus Bank, here in the republic of Côte d'Ivoire.
I am contacting you concerning a deceased customer and the investment he placed under our bank 3 years ago. I would respectfully request that you keep the contents of this message confidential and respect the integrity of this priviledged information you come by as a result of this mail. I am contacting you independently and no one within my organisation (VERSUS BANK) is aware of this communication.
If you will not work with me, be kind enough to let me know and let me move on with my life. I am a family man and see this as an opportunity for me to provide my family with new opportunities. There is a reward for this project and it is a task well worth undertaking. I have evaluated the risks and the only risk I have foreseen here is from you refusing to work with me and/or alerting my employers-VERSUS BANK- here in the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire.
I would like to intimate you here with the whole facts which I believe can turn around our lives and be of interest to you equally as it will to me.
In 2003, the subject matter came to our bank to engage in business discussions with our private banking division. He informed us that he had a financial portfolio of £26 .7 million British Pounds Sterling, which he wished to have us turn over (invest) on his behalf. I was the officer assigned to his case, I made numerous suggestions in line with my duties as the de-facto chief operations officer of the private banking Division, especially given the volume of funds he wished to invest in our bank.
Acting on his specific instructions, We spun the money around various investment opportunities and made attractive margins for our first months of operations, the accrued profits/interests stood at the point of over 6 million British Pounds Sterling.
This margin was not the full potential of the fund but he desired low-risk guaranteed returns on his investments. In mid 2005, he requested that the various investments with his money be liquidated and transferred to his his normal Personal Accounts because he needed to make another urgent investment requiring cash payments in anticipation of his arrival from France later that week and we followed his instructions accordingly. This was the last communication we had, this transpired around 25th February 2005.
In October 2005 we got reports from the our Custmer Care Section that for the past six months the customer had not established further contacts with our bank niether had he shown up for his funds. This was an astounding position as far as I was concerned, given the fact that I manage the private banking sector and was the only one who knew about the deposit at the security firm in London including the depositor and the entire history and I could not understand why our client had not gone forward to claim his deposit. I made futile efforts to locate him. Thereafter, I immediately passed the task of locating him to our internal Investigations/Customer Relations Department (ICRD). Four days later, information started to trickle in, apparently our man was dead.
As one of the sections under my direct supervision, the ICRD submitted it's well researched reports and findings to my office which included your name/e-mail contact details as the late customers' possible next-of-kins apparently because of the silmilarity of your surnames hence this my mail to you and I have decided to propose to you therefore that we work together, by you standing as the next-of-kin of my deceased customer for the retrieval and official claim of this trust.
I will simply nominate you as the next-of-kin and have my bank's management release the deposit to you. We share the proceeds 50/50. With the same very surename as the original depositor, you would easily pass for the beneficiary with full legal rights of claim by personal appearance or through legal representation. You should have begun by now to put together the general direction of what I propose.
If you are familiar with private banking affairs, those who patronize our services usually prefer anonymity, though some levels of detachment from conventional practice. In his bio-data form, he listed no next-of-kin(s). In the field of private banking, opening an account with us means no one will know of its existence, accounts are rarely held under a name, rather depositors use numbers and codes to make their accounts anonymous.
This leaves me as the only person with the full picture of what the prevailing situation is in relation to the deposit and the late beneficiary of the deposit. According to practice, the international Private Banking division will by the end of our financial year ending on the 31st day of March 2007 broadcast a request for statements of claims to the Registrar of Unclaimed Funds through our board of Directors and failing to receive viable claims from the depositors and/or their next-of-kins, they will,in accordance with our banking regulations /Guidelines recircle the deposit to the governments consolidated fund.
This will result in the money entering back into our banking system and thereafter into the country's national purse and the portfolio will be out of my hands and out of the private banking division. This will not happen if I have my way.
What I am relating to you now may smack of an unethical practice from a professional man in my position, but I want you to understand something, It is only an outsider to the banking world who finds the internal politics of the banking world aberrational. The world of private banking especially is fraught with huge rewards for those who sit upon certain chairs and oversee certain portfolios.
I alone have the deposit details and the bank will approve release of the deposit to no one unless I instruct them to do so. I alone know of the existence of this deposit for as far as VERSUS BANK's Private Banking division is concerned, the transaction with the late customer and all outstanding interactions in relation to his files are just customer services and the formal due process. No other management staff or department of my bank has any single idea of what's the history or nature of the deposit. The management is simply awaiting instructions to release the deposit to any party that I may direct. This is the true situation .
I am not a criminal and what I do, I do not find against good conscience, this may be hard for you to understand, but the dynamics of my industry dictates that I make this move. Such opportunities only come once in a lifetime. I cannot let this chance pass me by. For once I find myself in total control of my destiny.
Please keep contacting me only through this my personal email address: If you give me positive signals, I will then give you my private telephone number with which you can reach me and the relevant documents with which to proceed on the enquiry for the current status of the trust and filing of the bona-fide application for it's claim.
I do not want any official direct link between you and I. My official lines are not secure as they are periodically monitored/censored to assess our level of customer care service delivery in line with our periodic general Quality Control Management Policy. Please observe these instructions religiously and please do not betray the confidence I am here reposing in you .
I await your response.
Your Sincerely,
Mr. Michael
